Ecofill is proud to announce our participation in the recent Northumbrian Water Innovation Festival, where we showcased our groundbreaking partnership with Avove. This event, which took place at Newcastle Racecourse in July, highlighted the critical importance of innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in the construction industry.
James Lawlor, Framework Director for Avove and Northumbrian Water Framework, expressed the significance of the event, stating, “We’re here today at the Innovation Festival celebrating innovation for the industry and sponsoring the Carbon Sprint, which is a very important aspect of our services within the industry.”
Nigel Griffiths, Chairman of Ecofill and former Minister for Construction in the last Labour Government, emphasised the need for the industry to move away from traditional, carbon-intensive methods. He stated, “For too long, too much of construction has relied on very traditional methods that are now out of date, take up tremendous amounts of carbon, and are quite costly. Our partnership with Avove is a step towards ensuring that innovative practices are adopted quickly and effectively.”
At the festival, both James and Nigel highlighted the collaborative efforts between Ecofill and Avove to drive change within the industry. This partnership focuses on implementing low-carbon solutions and value engineering to deliver sustainable, cost-effective methods in subsoil treatment.
Nigel Griffiths further added, “It’s very important that the new government gets to grips with a number of key aspects, including reducing carbon and cost, and ensuring that the best practices of councils and innovative highways department practices are replicated across the country.”

It’s about how we collaborate together for the enterprise, and how we bring value and share that within the enterprise for low-carbon, better solutions, value engineering, etc.”
